Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has heaped praise on 28-year-old driver George Russell, describing him as a “true killer” and expecting a strong comeback from the British racer at the next Formula 1 Grand Prix in Montreal.
“‘George is a true killer. His greatest asset is that he never stops fighting and attacking. I’ve watched him throughout his career in junior formulas, karting, and here in F1. He’s determined and will do everything possible to succeed,” Wolff told Sky Sports.
The Austrian also expressed confidence that both Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli will be competing for points throughout the season. Regarding Russell’s performance in Miami, Wolff noted that the driver never felt truly comfortable there but is already looking forward to the upcoming race in Montreal.
“I have absolutely no doubt that Russell and Antonelli will fight for points all season long. In Miami, George never really felt at ease. That’s all. Tick that box. He’s eagerly awaiting the trip to Montreal. I don’t think it makes sense for the team to think about what will happen at the end of the year,” Wolff added.
